WTF Bill · Effective October 25, 2026
Short version: WTF Bill has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. What you set up in the app stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
- Your congressional district (never your address or exact location)
- Bills you follow, topics you pick and stances you mark
- Notification settings and recent searches
You can erase all of it any time in You → Privacy & data → Delete all my data, or by deleting the app.
What leaves your phone
To find your district, the app downloads a public file named after the first three digits of your ZIP code (for example, the file for "100"). We don't store that request or link it to you. If you use location instead, the app asks for your approximate location once and uses Apple's built-in location service to turn it into a ZIP code. We never receive your location, and the app doesn't keep it.
To show bills, the app downloads public, read-only files from our server, the same files for everyone. Like any web server, our host (Vercel) briefly processes standard request information such as IP address to deliver them. We don't use it to identify you.
Search runs entirely on your phone. Your searches never leave it.
Reporting a problem opens your own email app with a draft. Nothing is sent unless you send it, and we use what you send only to fix the issue and reply.
What we never collect
Your name, email, phone number, address, contacts, location history, advertising ID or browsing activity. We don't sell data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or build profiles.
Subscriptions
WTF Bill Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app on your phone whether your subscription is active. We don't run a server that receives your purchase, your Apple Account or your payment details. To manage or cancel, use your Apple Account settings.
Live Activities
If you turn on a Live Activity (the House floor, or your reps' votes), your phone subscribes to a public update channel: one for the House floor, or one for your district. The district is chosen on your phone. No device token or identifier is sent to us, and we can't tell who is following which channel.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, they're about bills you follow and your reps' votes. Your choices are stored on your phone.
Children
WTF Bill is a general-audience civic app and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. If a change ever means collecting new information, the app will ask first.
